Egypt directs $3.3B to 34 projects in 2020 to achieve gender equality

CAIRO – 8 March 2021: The Ministry of International Cooperation's 2020 Annual Report cites that 34 projects, worth $3.3 billion, are being executed to achieve the targets of gender equality. 

 

The report which entitled “International Partnerships for Sustainable Development: Writing the Future in a Changing Global Dynamic” noted that the projects were targeted to sectors including Health by 20 percent, Education by 14percent, and Micro, Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (MSMEs) by 15 percent.

 

“ Gender equality and women economic empowerment is at the heart of Egypt's program to build back better as we seeit's quantifiable impact on GDP productivity and a catalyst to push the UN SDGs forward,”  Minister of International Cooperation Rania A. Al-Mashat commented.

 

Meanwhile, Al-Mashat announced Monday that Egypt is mentioned as one of the countries globally that took positive strides in protecting the health and safety of women in dire times, as per the “Women, Business and the Law 2021”
