Egypt might partner with Siemens for new wind power project

Egypt is expected to team up with Siemens Energy to build a 500 megawatts capacity wind power plant, Daily News Egypt cited Minister of Electricity and Renewable Energy Mohamed Shaker on October 17th.An agreement would likely be sealed to begin developing the plant before the end of 2020, Shaker said.He, meanwhile, said the country plans to increase the percentage of electricity generated from renewables to 60% by 2035.The proposed rise comes as part of the power ministry's suggested amendments, “which will see the significant rise from the previously projected 42% in the time frame,” according to Shaker.He added that the new proposal will be presented for approval to the Egyptian Supreme Council of Energy.Last week, Siemens Energy revealed its contribution to Egypt's energy and health sectors by launching new developments.Copyright
