CAIRO - 14 January 2021: The Egyptian Minister of Electricity and Renewable Energy, Mohamed Shaker, signed an agreement of intentions with CEO of the German company Siemens، Joe Kaiser, to start discussions and studies to implement a pilot project for the production of green hydrogen in Egypt, as a first step towards expanding in this field to the possibility of exporting. The signature came within the framework of implementing the country's strategy that aims to expand the fields of clean green energy and increase the contribution of renewable energy in the electric energy mix, and the attention paid by the electricity and renewable energy sector to diversify sources of electric energy production, and benefit from the wealth of Natural Egypt, especially new and renewable energy sources, according to Ministry of Electricity. The Ministry noted in a statement, Thursday, that among new and renewable energy sources is the production, use and export of green hydrogen, in line with the global trend in this field.
