Large project in Luxor to protect residents from torrential rain damages







CAIRO – 1 December 2020: A new national project is being built to protect residents of mountainous areas in Luxor from the severe damage caused by the winter season.

 

The project will be established in the mountainous area of Al-Toud city in Luxor governorate, in Upper Egypt. Heavy rains and floods leave these areas harmed, especially during the first months of the season.

 

Establishing industrial lakes, barriers and dams are part of the project to protect the area from torrents' dangers.

 



 

Head of Al-Toud city, Mohamed Rizk said that the work is in full swing in the project, adding that the project is very important to maximize the use of the excess rainwater in irrigation and agriculture, and thus, in attracting population to the area.
