Siemens, Hassan Allam Construction to build Egypt’s new National Energy Control Center – MEP MiddleEast

Egyptian Electricity Transmission Company has awarded the consortium of Siemens and Hassan Allam a contract to build the New National Energy Control Center in the New Administrative Capital of Egypt.

Officials from Egyptian Electricity Transmission, Siemens and Hassan Allam Construction signed the contract, valued at $53million Egyptian pounds, at a ceremony in Cairo on 8 December, 2020. The project is expected to be completed by the end of 2022.

Egypt's new power grid control center will deploy advanced software and equipment to monitor, manage and control extra-high voltage (220 kV and 500 kV) transmission networks and power generation stations across the country, and will include the tools needed for future grid expansion and for maintaining a secured energy supply, including from renewable sources and storage.

“This control center features advanced software and hardware that will make Egypt's grid reliable and efficient today, and adaptive to the new technologies and energy sources of the future,” said Mostafa El-Bagoury, the Chief Executive Officer of Siemens in Egypt.
