22km of Adam-Haima-Thumrait carriageway project opened – Times of Oman

Muscat: The Ministry of Transport inaugurated the 22km long stretch of Adam-Haima-Thumrait dual carriageway for traffic this morning.

This newly opened stretch adds to the previously inaugurated 240km long portion of the first and second parts. This will help in smooth flow of traffic between Al-Dakhliyah and Al-Wusta Governorates.

This project features two 3.75m wide lanes on each side, 3m wide external asphalt road shoulders, 1.5m wide internal asphalt road shoulders, and 20-24m wide median strip.

All the necessary traffic safety facilities such as iron cable barriers, pavement floor painting, traffic signboards, and informative signboards have been incorporated in this portion.

With the opening of this project, the total length of Adam-Haima-Thumrait dual carriageway portion has reached 262km out of the entire 317.5km project which starts from Adam in Al-Dakhliyah Governorate and ends in Haima in Al-Wusta Governorate.

Adam-Haima-Thumrait's project is the longest dual carriageway road construction undertaken in Oman. It signifies a propelling drive to develop Duqm's special economic zone and the oil fields of the area. Additionally, it will revitalise the socioeconomic and tourism flow in the areas surrounding the road and Dhofar governorate, especially in the fall season.
