Bids invited for Awqad waterfront project in Salalah

Muscat – Dhofar Municipality has invited bids for the Awqad waterfront project in Salalah in efforts to stimulate tourism.

“To support the national economy and benefit from the country’s historical structures, the municipality has floated a tender for the development of Awqad waterfront,” a municipality official.

He informed that the project will include the construction of a 2.5km road, separate tracks for bicycles and pedestrians, and a car park.

“The project will also include recreational facilities for families to enjoy green spaces along the waterfront,” the municipality official added.

According him, the project aims to stimulate domestic tourism and create recreational places and a natural outlet for residents of the governorate.

Recently, Phase 1 of the Al Hafa Waterfront Development, a tourism and leisure landmark in Salalah was completed. This phase includes a promenade and waterfront restaurants (several international brands) and limited operations of a traditional market.
