GUTech students present projects for utilising historical sites in Muttrah

Muscat: GUTech students presented concepts for reinvigorating and developing heritage sites such as the Muttrah Fort and properties adjacent to the fort.  Students from various departments, including Urban Planning and Architectural Design, Computer Science and International Business and Service Management were involved in the project.This will help realise the Ministry of Heritage and Tourism's vision for the development of Muttrah for tourism.Private and public sector representatives were impressed by the work done by the students in the past year course and offered support to enable the project success.The attendees discussed ways in which the Oman-German Friendship Association and the resources of the private sector, under the guidance of the ministry could be combined.The Oman-German Friendship Association is an independent, membership organisation, founded to encourage and strengthen the understanding and friendship between the people of Oman and Germany. The association is actively seeking to leverage its resources in both countries to enable and support young and talented individuals with ideas and concepts for a brighter tomorrow. In attendance for the event included the board of the Oman- German Friendship Association, His Highness Sayyid Tarik Shabib Taimur Al Said; Sheikh Abdul Aziz Al Hosni; Sami Macki, Aaditya Khimji and the German Ambassador Thomas Schneider,
