Oman’s CPA signs agreement on intellectual property awareness

Muscat: In order to enhance the culture of intellectual property, the consumer protection Authority has signed a cooperation program  with Omani Intellectual Property Association.A statement issued online by Consumer Protection Authority said: "On Monday, February 1, 2021, the Consumer Protection Authority signed a cooperative program with the Omani Society for Intellectual Property within the framework of enhancing joint cooperation between the Authority and the various institutions in the Sultanate and developing it in order to achieve common strategies and the public interest.""The program was signed by His Excellency Sulayem bin Ali Al Hakmani, Chairman of the Authority , and Dr Ali bin Khamis Al Alawi, Chairman of the Society's Board of Directors, signed it on the Society's side, in the presence of a number of officials from both sides."Al-Alawi said :"Cooperation with the authority aims to enforce intellectual property rights in various practices and aims to raise the economy index in the Sultanate. This institutional cooperation will have an effective role to spread the culture of intellectual property in the Sultanate.""The terms of the program stipulated the provision of mutual support in various aspects, such as promoting intellectual property culture, scientific research, innovation and others," the statement added.
