Saudi’s SWPC welcomes EOIs for water reservoir construction project – MEP MiddleEast

The Saudi Water Partnership Company (SWPC) has invited Expressions of Interest (EOIs) for the development of Saudi Arabia‘s Juranah Independent Strategic Water Reservoir project. Once complete, the project – located in the Makkah region – will have a total storage capacity of 2.5 million cubic metres. SWPC said that either a private sector developer or a consortium of developers would be selected for the project following a competitive tender process. The winning bidder will implement the project on a build, own, operate, and transfer (BOOT) model. In addition, the winning developer or consortium of developers will be responsible for the development, financing, procurement, implementation, as well as operation and maintenance of the water reservoir.  The successful bidder, through a special purpose vehicle, will provide the required storage capacity to SWPC under a 30-year water storage agreement.  Construction and development work will include the strategic water reservoir and all its associated infrastructure and facilities.  The utility company said its obligations under the agreement will be backed by a credit support agreement from the Saudi government.
