Sharjah’s SEWA implements water transmission projects worth $33.1mn – MEP MiddleEast

The Sharjah Electricity, Water, and Gas Authority (SEWA) has implemented water transmission projects worth $33.1m (AED121m). 

The projects has been divided into three stages to increase the speed of completion, facilitating work to be carried out simultaneously.

The average completion rate for the three phases has reached approximately 91%. The main water line extends from Al Nahda to the Industrial Area 4 and is being implemented at a cost of $3.7mn (AED13.6m).

Works on the main water line have crossed the 7% milestone, while work has also begun on the transmission line project from Rahmaniyah 1 to Azra at a cost of $3.35m (AED12.32m).

The third water line project from Hamada area to Al Badei area aims to ensure the continuity of water services in the city of Sharjah, as well as enhance the diversity of water sources.

Commenting on the projects, the chairman of SEWA, HE Saeed Al Suwaidi, stated that the authority seeks to strengthen water transmission networks and raise the quantities of water flow, in order to meet the rapid growth in the demand for water in the various regions of Sharjah.

The authority has developed a strategy for water sustainability and network development in this regard, Al Suwaidi added.
