Dubai ports’ share in global freight traffic is now at 11%, says Sheikh Hamdan

Dubai: Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of The Executive Council, said Dubai’s share of global freight traffic is at 11 per cent. “Dubai invests tens of billions in expanding its shipping and air lines with more than 400 cities around the world, and we are the most rapidly growing, diversified city,” said Sheikh Hamdan on Twitter. With a capacity to handle 19.3 million TEU (20-foot equivalent units), Jebel Ali ranks among the Top 10 container ports in the world. On Tuesday, Sheikh Hamdan launched the ‘Dubai Global’ project, which is a global network of 50 commercial promotion offices for Dubai in the five continents. “Our goal from the global network is to internationalize our national companies, attract global investments, and open new commercial markets.” The network of offices, affiliated with Dubai Chambers, will work in partnership with government and semi-government entities. The project aims to strengthen the opportunity for Dubai-based companies to benefit from the emirate’s position as an integrated logistics hub and establish new commercial opportunities in 30 markets across the world. The offices provide specialised services including market research, services for establishing companies, and the start of actual operation.
