Winn-Dixie, the supermarket chain based in Jacksonville, Florida, will begin offering COVID-19 vaccinations to people in the state this week.The chain has about 500 stores in Florida, Alabama, Louisiana, Georgia and Mississippi. For now, it will only be offering the vaccine in Florida.Winn-Dixie's parent company Southeastern Grocers, which also owns BI-LO, Fresco y Más and Harveys Supermarket, said it would initially receive approximately 8,100 doses of the Moderna vaccine to administer in Florida. The move is part of the federal retail pharmacy program, which began distributing shots directly to pharmacies across the country this week.

Southeastern Grocers stores will start administering the Moderna jab on Thursday to eligible recipients in some Winn-Dixie, Fresco y Más and Harveys Supermarket locations.
