In The HBO Max DC Era, It’s Time For The CW’s Arrowverse To End

Jordan Fisher as Impulse in The Flash I am not watching all that many current shows at the moment minus Mare of Easttown, so I figured it was time to catch up with the Arrowverse, the constellation of shows on the CW that seem to be an incredibly weird spot right now. DC media is evolving, lately. Yes, they are still trying to make the DCEU work, but more importantly, they're trying to compete with Disney Plus's Marvel offerings by bringing potentially high quality, high profile DC TV shows to HBO Max, among them a GCPD series spun of out Matt Reeves' The Batman and an upcoming Green Lantern series. And they already have DC Universe shows like Doom Patrol, Titans and Harley Quinn over there. The Arrowverse, increasingly, doesn't fit. Neither in tone, quality or budget. And it's a gap that's only growing wider by the year. Of course, the show that started it all, Arrow, is dead. Arrow found success as a dark and gritty offering its first few seasons where Oliver Queen was on a quest for vengeance. It lost its magic as time went on, but eventually after it ended, passed the baton to The Flash.
