MTICT celebrates graduation of 100 trainees in IT sector

The Ministry of Transport, Communications, and Information Technology (MTCIT) - in collaboration with Oman Coding Academy - celebrated the graduation of trainees of the first edition of ‘Makeen’ programme, on TuesdayMuscat – The Ministry of Transport, Communications, and Information Technology (MTCIT) – in collaboration with Oman Coding Academy – celebrated the graduation of trainees of the first edition of ‘Makeen’ programme, on Tuesday.

The ceremony was held under the patronage of H E Dr Ali bin Amer al Shidhani, Undersecretary for Communications and Information Technology at MTCIT.

According to a statement by the ministry, 100 individuals successfully completed the programme, specialising in five distinct streams: Data science and artificial intelligence, comprehensive web application development, smartphone application development, systems engineering, and cybersecurity.

The Makeen programme garnered significant interest during the registration phase, attracting over 2,000 applicants vying for enrolment.

The programme has yielded promising employment outcomes, with a 73% employment rate for graduates of data science and artificial intelligence, 65% for systems engineering, 48% for comprehensive web application development, 40% for smartphone application development and 47% for cybersecurity.

Ahmed bin Salem al Wahaibi, head of the Training Programmes Department at MTCIT, said that these programmes form part of the national initiatives aimed at enhancing digital competencies.
