The Emergency, Crisis and Disaster Management Team (ECDMT) in Sharjah on Tuesday announced updated protocols for passengers arriving in the country through Sharjah International Airport.

All passengers arriving in Sharjah must present a negative COVID-19 PCR test report 72 hours prior to departing for Sharjah. Earlier, the PCR test validity was 96 hours, which has been reduced to 72. The decision will take effect 5 days after its issuance, ECDMT confirmed.

A social distancing signboard has been put at the airport.

The updated protocol stipulates that the test result must be negative. In addition, passengers will be subject to COVID-19 PCR test upon arrival at the ports of the Emirate of Sharjah.

The move is part of the emirate's keenness to preserve the safety of community members in line with the preventive protocol and measures to curb the spread of the coronavirus.

The updates announced by the ECDMT in Sharjah also mention that passengers of outbound flights must present a negative COVID-19 PCR test 72 hours before departure. Adhering to the preventive measures adopted in the country of destination with a health insurance when travelling abroad is also required, the ECDMT added.
