Residents of Misfat al Abriyeen set up climbing wall to attract tourists



Muscat – Residents of Misfat al Abriyeen in the wilayat of Hamra in Dakhliyah have set up an outdoor climbing wall to further promote their village as a tourist hotspot.

Abdul Rahmanal Abri, who is spearheading the project, said it was done in cooperation with Canyon Adventure and Tours company. The project, which began a month ago, was officially opened on Friday.

“The wall has been set up against an 8m tall boulder and it has three climbing tracks. These have been designed to suit children, adults and adventure lovers,” Abri said.

People can access it at weekends from 9am to 5.30pm for an entrance fee of RO3, Abri said, adding that tourist groups can reserve it on weekdays as well.

“The climbing wall is operated and managed by Omani youth from Hamra. They have undertaken a training course in the field of security and safety.”

According to Abri, the project aims to promote tourist sites in Misfat al Abriyeen, attract tourists and create recreational areas for families in the Governorate of Dakhliyah. The project will attract adventure lovers, especially during the tourist season, which extends from October to April.
