Bahrain: Around 4,000 traffic diversion requests in 2020

The Ministry of Works, Municipalities and Urban Planning received about 4,000 traffic diversion requests for public services and infrastructure projects, a senior official has said.

The ministry achieved 2,130 of the 3030 requests it approved and coordinated with the General Directorate for Traffic for their implementation.

Director of Roads Planning and Design Department Maha Khalifa Hamadeh said the applications included reviewing the designs of diversions and setting up technical controls to ensure the safe flow of traffic.

Traffic diversions are usually carried out during the weekend or late at night to avoid any disruption to traffic, she added.
