NeoCharge, started in 2018 by a couple Cal Poly engineering students, is offering a way to charge a vehicle without adding any new electrical hardware to an owner's home.
All that's needed is a 220-volt outlet used by a dryer, hot water heater or heat pump.
The product, called a Smart Splitter, plugs directly into that existing outlet, avoiding the cost of an electrician to add a to support a Level 2 (220-volt) charger that could cost between $500 and $1,500.
