Woman Hurls Crate Containing Cat Into River After Clashing With Ex-Boyfriend: Deputies

A woman in Florida tossed a pet crate containing her ex-boyfriend's cat into the Intracoastal Waterway after they had a dispute, police said on Twitter on Friday.

The Volusia County Sheriff's Office said 53-year-old Christa Anne Thistle has been arrested on charges of animal cruelty. Thistle denied the allegations.

The Sheriff's office noted in a statement that deputies were called to the Riverwood Park Campground near South Ridgewood Avenue Thursday night and learned Thistle broke up with her long-term boyfriend. They were both arguing "over him not moving out fast enough" from an RV they shared.
