The Berlin Brandenburg Airport (BER), which continues its streak of luck by opening in the middle of a pandemic that has caused travel worldwide to plummet, was meant to open its door on Oct. 30, 2011.

But poor planning and construction work has delayed the project multiple times and inflated its cost to the tunes of billions of euros.
