DFF presents outlook on future of transportation

Dubai Future Foundation (DFF) in collaboration with the Dubai Future Council for Transportation, launched a report spotlighting the future of the transportation sector. The report makes a business case for investing in autonomous driving, advanced transport infrastructure, and strengthening cargo delivery through leveraging cutting-edge technology and innovation. Furthermore, the report underscores the importance of enhancing the human reliance on big data analytics to track passenger travel patterns, and develop policies and laws related to transportation services management systems. Referencing a recent report published by International Association for Public Transport, the report states that the Covid-19 pandemic has resulted in more than four billion people being locked down, leading to a decrease in farebox revenues - the total value of cash, tickets and pass receipts given by passengers as payment for public transit rides. In several cities, the reduction in patronage by public transport users exceeded 90 percent. The report points out that this finding clearly underlines the importance of developing transportation systems that are more adaptive to the current global situation. Speaking on the significance and findings of the report, Mattar Al Tayer, Director General and Chairman of the Board of Executive Directors of the Roads and Transport
