Mara Brock Akil Inks Netflix Overall Deal

Mara Brock Akil, the creator/showrunner behind the series for The Game, Girlfriends, and Being Mary Jane has signed a multi-year overall deal with Netflix to create new scripted and other original content. The deal comes days before her popular comedy series Girlfriends releases September 11 on Netflix, which happens to be the show's 20th anniversary.
