Abengoa awarded $4.2mn transmission works contract for Transco in Abu Dhabi – MEP MiddleEast

Spain-headquartered multinational company Abengoa – which implements innovative technology solutions for sustainability in the infrastructure, energy, and water sectors through its Transmission and Infrastructure vertical and specifically through its company Abengoa Inabensa – has been awarded a $4.2mn (€3.5mn) contract in Abu Dhabi.

The contract includes a series of works for the Abu Dhabi Transmission and Despatch Company (Transco), which is responsible for power transmission in the emirate of Abu Dhabi.

Abengoa will be responsible for the dismantling of 25.6km of 400 kV double circuit line and 40.6km of 220kV double circuit line for the establishment and modification of the existing Mahawe - Wathva line. The works are expected to last a total of 32 months.

The contract award highlights the trust placed by Transco in Abengoa. The company has previously completed the Al Fayah – Shamka transmission lines of 400/220 kV across 23km, and the Fuyairah-Dibba/Fuyairah-Tayween transmission lines of 132kV across 75km.
