TotalEnergies, DHL ink deal for 14,000MWh/year of solar energy – MEP MiddleEast

The leading provider of air, ocean, and road freight services, DHL Global Forwarding, and TotalEnergies have signed a contract for a solar energy project in Dubai, in continuation with its Strategic Cooperation Agreement signed in 2019.

TotalEnergies will solarise eight DHL sites in Dubai to cover the equivalent of more than 46,000m² of photovoltaic panels. The project aims to produce more than 14,000 MWh of electricity per year on eight sites. The energy produced will be sufficient to power more than 16,000 homes yearly in the UAE.

Furthermore, the solar energy system will displace more than 6,000t of CO2 in the first year. The reduction of CO2 emissions is part of Deutsche Post DHL’s Sustainability Strategy, and complements the group’s roadmap to achieve zero-emissions logistics from 2050 onwards.
