Cairo asks Moscow to be notified of new rules of entry of Egyptian agriculture commodities to Russian market

CAIRO - 10 February 2022: In a meeting with Russian Ambassador to Cairo Georgy Borisenko on Thursday, Egyptian Minister of Agricultural Sayyed El Qusseir assured that the Egyptian cargos of oranges that were banned by Russia are safe in accordance with the international standard specifications. CNN Arabic reported that Russia has imposed entry ban on the Egyptian Agricultural commodities after the Russian Federal Authority changing the standard specifications for importing agricultural crops without notifying Egypt. The Minister highlighted the necessity to notifying Egypt with all new Russian legislative rules regarding the entry of Egyptian agriculture exports. He added that Egypt is keen on ensuring the safety of its commodity exports, according to a statement from the Egyptian Ministry. Qusseir said that Egypt seeks to increase the trade volume with Russia, the statement added. Borisenko affirmed that Egypt is a vital strategic partner to Russia, which always seek to develop and deepen this partnership. The ambassador added that the embassy is continuously communicating with Russian technical authorities to remove any obstacles to the entry of Egyptian agricultural commodities into Russian markets.
