Agriculture ministry starts harvesting 160 acres of wheat in Manah

Muscat – The Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Water Resources (MAFWR) has begun harvesting approximately 160 acres of wheat in Manah in Dakhliyah governorate.

Mohammed Harib al Bahlani, Director of the Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Water Resources in the wilayat of Manah said, “The farmers started harvesting wheat in Manah after their success in planting around 160 acres of wheat in 2022-23 season. We expect to harvest 170 tonnes of wheat this season, an increase of 40 tonnes compared to last year.”

He added that the department distributed 500kg of wheat varieties to farmers to sow this year.

“The ministry is making great efforts to support farmers and diversify agricultural crops by providing the correct guidance for planting crops and providing improved seeds and fertilisers. The ministry also encourages farmers to grow a variety of agricultural crops, including wheat.”
