MAFWR invites investment in five fisheries projects



Muscat – The Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Water Resources (MAFWR) will offer suitable land for investments in the sectors within its ambit.

As per its programme to boost the economy linked to fisheries, the ministry is planning to set up three fish collection centres in South Sharqiyah and Dhofar governorates and two fish markets in Sinaw in North Sharqiyah and Buraimi in Buraimi governorate.

It called for tenders from Omani companies for setting up the fish collection centres and fish markets in those governorates. The last date for submission of bids is November 10, the ministry added.

A fish collection centre will come up in the Al Saqla area in the wilayat of Jalan Bani Bu Ali in South Sharqiyah. The two other centres will be at Hadbeen area and Sadah area in the wilayat of Sadah, in Dhofar.

The ministry has also appealed to investors to bid for investing in five stores in the central fish market in Al-Fulaij in Barka and to manage and operate the retail fish market in Wadi Al Ma’awel in South Batinah governorate.
