More local trees to spread shade and reduce irrigation times

Muscat: Within its obligation to spread greeneries and shade in the Governorate, Muscat Municipality adopts a local approach to plant Omani trees in public areas like walkways, roadsides, gardens and parks to spread shade and reduce irrigation water. The drive was chosen due to the great ability of Omani shrubs to withstand drought, high temperatures and fewer rainfalls.

Part of the landscaping works also involves removing harmful and invasive trees that threaten the country's water abundance and eliminate the rest of invasive plants. As for sustainability purpose, tree residues are recycled and used in the manufacture of organic fertilizers, so these residues become environmentally friendly fertilizers that can be used to nourish and promote the growth of plants in the future. In this way, this process of preserving the environment and ensuring its sustainability is integrated, as well as making the city healthy, clean and free of pollutants.
