OFMC to set up one of GCC’s largest poultry farms in Dhahirah

Muscat – Oman Flour Mills Company (OFMC) is entering into a new venture with the establishment of a poultry farm – one of the largest in the GCC – in Dhahirah.

The Gulf International Poultry Farm is being developed in partnership with Gulf Japan Food Fund, Japanese Ice Foods Company and UAE-based IFFCO, the flour mills company said. “The farm is going to be one of the largest poultry farms for egg production in the GCC,” it added.

Spread over an area of 18mn sqm, the farm will be set up in Subaikhi area in the wilayat of Ibri.The project, whose investment cost exceeds RO26mn, will serve the needs of the local market with a production capacity of 360mn eggs annually and support the export sector of Oman by sending surplus eggs to various countries in the region.

The project will contribute to the country’s efforts to achieve food security, the company said.Oman currently produces 3,650 cartons of table eggs per day, while the average local consumption is 6,400 cartons.
