In a show of social solidarity and to prevent food waste, Oman Food Bank distributed 33.2 tonnes of cooked food among the needy by end of November of 2023.Muscat – In a show of social solidarity and to prevent food waste, Oman Food Bank distributed 33.2 tonnes of cooked food among the needy by end of November of 2023.

Ibrahim Abdullah al Hosni, Chairman of Board of Directors of Oman Food Bank, said, “We continue our efforts in the field of charitable work by preserving food and distributing it to those who deserve it, within the framework of achieving social solidarity and giving in society.”

He informed that the bank, a non-profit organisation established in 2021, aims to spread the culture of preserving food, providing food aid to beneficiaries, and contributing to achieving food security.

The bank has four branches that collect food and distribute it among the needy, Hosni added, noting that there are awareness efforts on the importance of food preservation and introducing the bank’s role to the community.

According to Hosni, besides 33.2 tonnes of cooked food, the bank distributed 51.16 tonnes of vegetables and fruits, and 5,000 food baskets.
