Minister underlines Qatar’s efforts to enhance food security

* Ministry of Municipality marks World Food Day

The Ministry of Municipality, represented by the Food Security Department, celebrated World Food Day, which falls on October 16 each year, in the presence of HE the Minister of Municipality Dr Abdullah bin Abdulaziz bin Turki al-Subaie, and with the participation of representatives from state committees and institutions concerned with agricultural production and food safety.

This year's celebration was held under the slogan "leave no one behind...better production, better nutrition, better environment, and a better life".The celebration saw a recorded speech presented by HE Director-General of the Food and Agriculture Organisation of the United Nations (FAO), Dr Qu Dongyu, in which he addressed the issue of food waste around the world, and calling for the need to develop solutions to reduce it.

Additionally, presentations were conducted, including screening of an introductory film about the World Food Day 2022 logo and a presentation introducing the "Your Health First" initiative.

The celebration also included the presentation of a number of working papers with the objective of transfer of knowledge and experience in matters of agricultural production and food safety. The first working paper introduced the electronic food safety system (Watheq), and the second helped
