Dubai’s food and beverage trade with Africa hits $13.9bn in 5 yrs
Dubai’s food and beverage trade with Africa, excluding tobacco, hit $13.9 billion in the 2015-2020 period, as shown by a new analysis by Dubai Chamber.
In 2020, the total value of the food and beverage trade between Dubai and Africa rose by 18% year-on-year (YoY) to $2.4 billion, marking its highest level since 2017.
North Africa was Dubai's largest food and beverage trade partner in Africa last year, with a total value of $971.2 million, followed by East Africa with $828.3 million and Southern Africa with $362.9 million.
The emirate's food and beverage trade with Africa represented around 13% of its total trade volume with the continent, with exports amounting to 31% of the trade volume and re-exports representing 23%.
Dubai Chamber has published this analysis ahead of the 6th Global Business Forum Afric 2021, set to be held on 13-14 October 2021 by the Chamber in partnership with Expo 2020 Dubai.
