UAE publishes first photo of Hope Probe encircling Mars

Mohamed Bin Zayed shared the first picture of Mars on his official Twitter account. The United Arab Emirates on Sunday published the first image of its Mars Hope Probe now encircling the Red Planet. The picture, taken on Wednesday, shows sunlight just coming across the surface of Mars. It also shows Mars' North Pole and its largest volcano, Olympus Mons. The image comes from its "Amal," or "Hope," space probe. The probe swung into orbit around Mars on Tuesday in a triumph for the Arab world's first interplanetary mission. A new launch date for the UAE Hope Probe mission to Mars have been set for Friday July 17, 2020 at 12:43am UAE time. The United Arab Emirates has postponed the launch of its mission to Mars for a second time due to weather conditions at the launch site in Japan, the government's communications office said on Wednesday. The Hope Probe will make a 7-month-long journey to the red planet covering 493, 500, 000km, according to Mohammed Bin Rashid Space Centre (MBRSC).
