Bahrain and Russia signed a memorandum of understanding to deepen bilateral relations, strengthen parliamentary cooperation, and broaden frameworks of joint action between the legislative branches. Council of Representatives Speaker Fawzia bint Abdulla Zainal and the Chairwoman of the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of Russia, Valentina Matviyenko, signed the agreement on the sidelines of the Russian high-level parliamentary delegation’s visit to the kingdom. The move was based on the two sides’ shared desire to bolster friendship and cooperation, being an effective means to enhance rapprochement at all levels, and based on the cultural values and historical traditions shared by the two friendly countries. The MoU aims to improve the level of bilateral parliamentary cooperation and increase exchanged visits between the two sides’ delegations. Under the deal, the two sides will exchange information and expertise, coordinate efforts to promote peace and security, as well as enhance their consultations within international parliamentary organisations and gatherings.
