Works ministry reduced and dropped municipal fees for 1,973 Bahraini families in 2020

Essam Khalaf - Works, Municipalities Affairs and Urban Planning Minister Works, Municipalities Affairs and Urban Planning Minister Essam bin Abdulla Khalaf said that the ministry had reduced and dropped municipal fees for 1,973 Bahraini families in 2020. The minister stressed that this decision came as an implementation of the directives of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, to equate citizens renting houses with citizens who own their homes. These decisions are in line with the lofty wishes of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa to provide decent living conditions for all citizens, by reducing the burdens of living costs, the minister added. He explained that the reduction of municipal fees were consistent with the needs of citizens, especially those with limited income. The minister assured the continuous coordination between Municipalities Affairs and the Consumer Affairs Services Department at the Electricity and Water Authority (EWA) to amend municipal fees in the electricity bills for these families.
