CAIRO – 29 November 2020: The plenary session of Egypt's Senate has kicked off on Sunday under the presidency of judge Abdel-Wahab Abdel-Razeq to discuss the Senate's draft statute, according to a statement from the Senate.

 

Drafting the Senate's statute based on all the constitutional texts (Articles No. 118 and 254 of the 2014 Constitution) and legal materials regulating the work of the Senate to avoid any formal or substantive violation, said Abdel-Razeq in the statement. 

 

He paid gratitude to the members of the ad hoc committee tasked with drafting the Senate's statute, noting that the draft regulations consisted of 292 articles divided into 12 chapters.

 

On October 18, 2020, the Senate witnessed the inaugural session, during which Abdel-Razeq was elected as the Speaker, besides electing two deputies.
