Inside Kinship, A Butcher And Sundry Shop In Atlanta From Two Aska Alums

In Atlanta's Virginia-Highland neighborhood, on the namesake corner of Virginia and North Highland Avenues, stands Kinship, a chef-driven butcher and sundry shop. Co-owners Myles Moody and Rachael Pack are behind the venture. Myles is a chef and Atlanta native who's cooked at Michelin-starred restaurants (including Blue Hill at Stone Barns, Eleven Madison Park and Aska) and Rachael is the former general manager and beverage director at Aska. At Kinship, Myles is in charge of the whole-animal butchery program, and Rachael curates their selection of organic and biodynamic wines plus artisan domestic cheeses. There's an on-site coffee bar, Academy Coffee, run by Myles' brother Connan Moody, who uses his background in coffee and cocktails to craft unique specialty beverages. These include the Hercules, Hercules! (a flat white with bay leaf and olive oil), The B-Side (cold brew with banana and basil) and White Lightnin (ginger beer, tiki bitters and espresso). Order the Surprise Me and Connan will whip up a custom caffeine creation on the spot. I had the opportunity to connect with Rachael and talk about all things Kinship. I'll let her take it away from here. Abigail Abesamis Demarest: One month in business! What has it been like opening
