Q&A: Regulator ANP sets priorities for gas regulation

Sao Paulo, 6 May (Argus) — The general-director of Brazilian oil and gas regulator ANP, Rodolfo Saboia, shared his views on regulatory priorities for the newly open Brazilian natural gas market.

Industry says "the ball is in ANP's court" to update gas regulations. How is ANP working to do that?

The creation of a working group was recently approved to create the regulation of third-party access to essential infrastructure. The group will have the participation of representatives from four ANP departments.

Within 18 months, the group must present a proposal for a resolution to regulate free access to LNG terminals, to outflow pipelines and to natural gas processing units.

There is also the working group that is reviewing the quality specifications for natural gas, currently provided for in ANP Resolution No 6 of 2008. The work is under the coordination of the Superintendant of Biofuels and Product Quality (SBQ).

Which parts of the gas regulatory agenda does ANP consider to be priorities?
