Sharjah Municipality stops dealing with cash – GulfToday – Gulf Today

The Sharjah City Municipality has stopped dealing with cash in its revenue and fine transactions from Wednesday, July 15.  The deposit system will however continue to function as before via the Commercial Bank of Dubai.

The move to stop dealing with cash comes as part of the municipality's efforts to constantly upgrade its work system and provide best services to its customers.

The municipality has adopted the 'Tahseel' system, which is the latest technology, while providing other modes of payment within this digital system.

These modes of payment include 'Tahseel' smart card; Emirates ID card, which can be topped up via the bank that a customer deals with; banking cards (credit or debit) via POS or online and also global e-wallets (Google Pay, Apple Pay, Samsung Pay).

The system enables the public to pay fees of all the services provided by the municipality including rent regulation, public parking, engineering, public health, agriculture and environment, among others.

In an earlier report, Dr Abdullah Ali Al Qaidi, Assistant Director General of Corporate Support Sector, explained that working with a smart payment system and cancelling cash transactions contributes to reducing costs, considering that this system is safer and is
