USW, Marathon reach new four-year labor deal

Houston, 25 February (Argus) — Representatives of the United Steelworkers (USW) union and Marathon Petroleum reached an agreement on a four-year collective bargaining agreement (CBA) today, pending union ratification.

The US independent refiner, which represented refineries employing an estimated 30,000 workers nationwide, said the agreement includes substantial yearly wage increases, along with signing bonuses, and continuation of enhancements to other provisions of the previous deal — including those related to employee benefits, health and safety, and job security.

"We look forward to local union leaders at (the) facilities scheduling timely ratification votes on the new local contracts to which the parties have tentatively agreed" Marathon said today.
