Mikati welcomes UNIFIL commander, chairs meeting over country’s energy affairs

NNA - Prime Minister, Najib Mikati, on Tuesday affirmed "Lebanon's commitment to implement International Security Council’s resolution 1701," praising "the continuous cooperation between the Lebanese army and UNIFIL forces operating in south Lebanon.” 

Moreover, the PM stressed the need to preserve stability in south Lebanon, calling on the United Nations to exert more efforts to curb the daily Israeli violations of Lebanon’s airspace and sovereignty. 

He thanked UNIFIL for its efforts supporting Lebanese citizens and promoting sustainable development in the southern part of the country. 

Mikati's words came during a meeting with UNIFIL Commander, General Aroldo Lazaro, who visited him with an accompanying delegation at the Grand Serail.

On another level, PM Mikati chaired a meeting to discuss the country’s energy affairs, in the presence of Minister of Energy and Water, Walid Fayad, the World Bank’s Regional Director of the Mashreq Department, Saroj Kumar Jha, and other concerned WB and Lebanese officials. 

Following the meeting, Minister Fayad said that two meetings were held in this regard; the first with Siemens and the second with the World Bank.

“I have briefed the Prime Minister on the atmosphere of my recent visit to Qatar, and stressed the need to work diligently to find solutions for Zahrani station and
