5% VAT applicable on our products, services: Omantel, Oredoo

Muscat: The telecommunication companies in Oman have informed their customers that the value-added tax will be applied to all services and packages, with the start of the law coming into effect on Friday, 16th April. Omantel said in a notification, "As mandated by Oman Government through Royal Decree No. 121/2020, with effect from 16 April 2021, Value added tax (VAT) of 5% will be applicable on most of our products and services. VAT is introduced as part of the national strategy towards building a diversified and robust economy." "From 16 April, Oman will be introducing VAT. Our prices will be amended to reflect the mandatory 5% VAT on non-exempt goods and services from this date," Oredoo said in a message to its users.
