Agreement signed for cloud services in Oman I Times of Oman

Members of Data Mount, ETCO and Alibaba Group Muscat: An agreement has been signed by Green Mountain Data Company 'Data Mount' and International Emerging Technology Company (ETCO), with Chinese Alibaba Group in the field of cloud computing. "In cooperation with the Ministry of Transport, Communications and Information Technology, the Green Mountain Data Company 'Data Mount' and International Emerging Technology Company (ETCO) have signed a cooperation agreement in the field of cloud computing with the Chinese Alibaba Group," Oman News Agency said in a statement. ONA confirmed that the agreement stipulates that the two companies will manage, operate and market Alibaba's cloud computing centre and services in the region, which will enhance Oman's position as a regional gateway for cloud computing services and technologies. "Under the agreement, Alibaba will invest about 10 million US dollars during the initial stages, which is to provide central devices and modern technologies. Data Mount will invest approximately 4 million US dollars in equipping the infrastructure for the information centre," ONA added.
