Prior license needed to import items with picture of His Majesty, national symbols

Muscat: The Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Investment Promotion has affirmed the necessity of obtaining a prior license when using or importing products that contain the image of His Majesty the Sultan, his honorable family, the emblem of the Sultanate or the royal emblem.

The Ministry said in a statement: "Please note that without the express permission of the Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Investment Promotion, it is illegal for companies to use the image of His Majesty the Sultan, those of his family members, the royal coat of arms or the khanjar and sword logo on locally produced commercial items. This restriction also applies to the use of these images on any imported goods."
