Qatar explores ways to boost bilateral relations with Spain

Qatari Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani has discussed ways to strengthen bilateral relations in various fields with Spanish King HM Felipe VI.

This came at the Royal Palace (La Zarzuela) following the official reception for Sheikh Tamim and a high-level delegation accompanying.

Sheikh Tamim will attend the Spanish-Qatari Business Forum and meet Spanish Prime Minister Mr. Pedro Sanchez at La Moncloa Presidential Palace to discuss bilateral relations, especially at the economic level.

According to the statement, “This visit is of great importance for Spain, especially since Qatar has the third-largest natural gas reserves in the world and is a reliable partner for Europe, which is looking for alternative sources of Russian gas supply, especially it is the fifth supplier of gas after the United States, Algeria, Nigeria, and Egypt.”

It is scheduled to sign 12 agreements, including eight memoranda of understanding at the bilateral level in various fields, mostly economic and commercial during the visit.

As per the sources, the Spanish government is looking forward that this visit will contribute to upgrading the bilateral relations to a strategic partnership at the political and economic levels, in addition to visiting Qatari investments in Spain and ensuring greater supplies of natural gas.
