Saudi Crown Prince announces Riyadh submitted formal request to host Expo 2030

The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia announced on Friday that it has submitted an official request to the Bureau International des Expositions (BIE) (the organizing body for the World Expo) to host the Expo 2030 in Riyadh under the slogan “The Era of Change: Moving Our Planet Towards the Future” from October 1, 2030 to April 1, 2031. This came in the letter of Prince Mohammed Bin Salman Bin Abdulaziz, Crown Prince, Deputy Prime Minister and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Royal Commission for Riyadh City, to the Secretary-General of the International Bureau of Exhibitions, Dimitri Kerkentzes. Mohammed stressed that this candidacy is an important and symbolic challenge for the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, expressing his confidence in the Kingdom's ability and commitment to establishing a historic version of the World Expo with the highest levels of innovation, and to provide an unprecedented global experience in the history of organizing this global forum. "We believe that giving first-time bidders the opportunity to organize (the World Expo) will enhance the esteemed role of the BIE as a platform for intercultural understanding and human exchange, and reflect the changing nature of our developing world," he added.
