Saudi fashion blooms at Expo 2020

There was a celebration of Saudi design talent at the Kingdom’s pavilion at Expo 2020 in the UAE recently. Three of the country’s most lauded designers presented their latest collections as part of the proceedings. The labels that showcased ten of the most stunning pieces from their line at the fashion show included ArAm, Abadia and Tima Abid. ArAm, which was founded by Arwa Al Ammari, opened the event with a range that paid homage to the heritage of Saudi Arabia. Al Ammari’s designs were playful and included colourful skirts, as well as abayas that featured striking prints. She also used traditional sadu weaving technique in her collection, in a nod to her country. Abadia, a Saudi label, based in Dubai, was up next and demonstrated the power of regional talent. The designer’s creations were recently donned by singer Alicia Keys at her maiden concert in AlUla, Saudi Arabia -- a reaffirmation of the sheer talent the country has to offer when it comes to fashion. The collection was hailed for its integration of traditional techniques like sadu and naqda and showcased earthy hues. The event was closed by Tima Abid, who launched her label nearly two decades ago. Based
