Dubai Carbon Abatement Strategy 2030 approved

Dubai: The Dubai Supreme Council of Energy has approved the updated plans and objectives to reduce carbon emissions by 30 per cent by the end of 2030 to support the UAE’s efforts to achieve carbon neutrality by 2050. The go-ahead was given at the 68th meeting of the council, chaired online by Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, Chairman of the Dubai Supreme Council of Energy. Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, Vice Chairman of the Dubai Supreme Council of Energy, attended the meeting. Among the others who were present at the high-profile meet were Ahmed Buti Al Muhairbi, Secretary-General of the Dubai Supreme Council of Energy, board members Dawood Al Hajiri, Director General of Dubai Municipality; Abdulla bin Kalban, Managing Director of Emirates Global Aluminium (EGA); Saif Humaid Al Falasi, CEO of Emirates National Oil Company (ENOC); Juan-Pablo Freile, General Manager of Dubai Petroleum; and Nasser Abu Shehab, CEO of the Strategy & Corporate Governance Sector at the Roads & Transport Authority (RTA). The meeting discussed several topics including the successful launch of DEWA-SAT 1, part of DEWA’s Space-D programme, that His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai
