Emirates partners with IATA to use IATA Travel Pass amid COVID-19

UAE - Mubasher: Emirates Airline has entered into a partnership agreement with the International Air Transport Association (IATA) to become one of the world's first airlines to test IATA Travel Pass.

In line with government requirements for COVID-19 testing, IATA Travel Pass is a mobile app that allows passengers to form a digital passport to verify their pre-travel test or vaccination certificates, according to a press release on Tuesday.

Hence, passengers will be able to share the test and vaccination certificates with authorities and airlines, alongside completing travel documents digitally.

Emirates will launch the app's initial phase in Dubai starting April, enabling its customers to submit their COVID-19 test status before arriving to the airport.

Emirates' Chief Operating Officer, Adel Al Redha, said: "We have worked with IATA on this innovative solution to simplify and digitally transmit the information that is required by countries and governments into our airline systems, in a secure and efficient manner."

IATA Senior Vice President for Airport, Passenger, Cargo, and Security, Nick Careen, commented: "This is the first step in making international travel during the pandemic as convenient as possible giving people the confidence that they are meeting all COVID-19 entry
